Casa Mombo is located on Calle Naranjito (“street of little oranges”), a quiet dead-end street in a friendly, safe neighborhood just south of the town square. The house sits on a short rise about five minutes on foot from the beach, and enjoys a light fresh breeze on the hottest days. All units have a pleasant valley view.
Your flight will arrive at Puerto Vallarta Gustavo Diaz Ordaz International Airport, 22 miles from Sayulita. Transportation to Sayulita is available by taxi from the airport for about $60-$70 (more for large groups). Alternately, directly outside the airport, the sky bridge to the other side of the street accesses a bus stop for the Sayulita bus that costs $3 per person. The bus arrives approximately every half hour, and will have “Sayulita” prominently displayed in white marker across the front windshield. Please note there are no buses after 8 pm. Non-airport taxis also depart from across the street and will charge about $55; bargaining is permissible.
The bus ride from Puerto Vallarta to Sayulita costs 35 pesos (about US$3), buses normally arrive every ½ hour and the 24 mile journey takes approximately 1½ hours or less.
If you are going to catch the bus from the airport, cross over the highway using the pedestrian bridge. The bus line serving Sayulita is COMPESTELA and their buses are white and green. Look for the name "Sayulita" written on the windshield of the bus. Note. Not all COMPESTELA buses go to Sayulita. If you are hungry, the restaurant by the bus stop, Tacos Marlin, has fabulous shrimp -cameron- burritos
You do need pesos for the trip, but you do not need exact change. Collection method depends on the bus driver - either he will collect it as you board the bus, or, occasionally, there will be a helper who will come around after you are seated to collect the fare. You will have to keep your bags and packs with you. It is possible, although not inevitable, that the bus can become crowded for a portion of the route. It's best to avoid the bus if you have a lot of luggage.
